Subject Aims
Art and Design is an important part of the curriculum at our school. Students will learn how to use a develop a range of both technical and practical elements of art through a range of skills, techniques, and materials.
The Art & Design curriculum at Cardinal Griffin Catholic College builds on the knowledge students have acquired in previous years at Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. In Key Stage Three, we focus on building on the National Curriculum to give students a well-rounded education. We place a strong emphasis on developing confidence and expression through a range of different means and practices. Additionally, we offer students the opportunity to choose the path that best aligns with their interests and career goals, whether that be Fine Art or Art & Textiles at KS4.

KS5 - Year 12-13
Unit 1 - A personal investigation based on an idea, issue or concept of your choice, supported by 1000 – 3000 word written investigation completed in Year 13. Students select their own starting point for the Personal Investigation. Students can develop their own personal preferences, leading to more independent thinking and development of work.
Unit 2 – Externally set assignment. Examination papers are released to students during the first school week in February.
