Sixth Form information Evening 2022

We invite you to attend our Sixth Form Catholic College Open Evening which is scheduled on Thursday 17th November 2022, commencing at 5.30pm with an expected finish time of 7.30pm.

The evening will begin with a short, introductory talk in the hall at 5.30pm. Following this, there will be the opportunity to visit subject areas and talk to teaching staff and current Year 12 and Year 13 students about the subjects that you may be interested in studying and the higher education and career routes that are available to you following Sixth Form. Literature will be available throughout the evening.

Making the right choice for post-16 courses is critical, and this evening will enable students to further empower themselves with information and guidance towards making this decision. In attendance, there will be representatives from universities and our careers adviser to give you the opportunity to further discuss some of the pathways at post-16 and what opportunities may be available to students in the future.

Our most recent Ofsted report lists a host of reasons why our Sixth Form was rated as good, the following extract from the report is just one of those examples.

Leadership of the sixth form is highly effective. Leaders have a good understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the sixth form. They have high expectations of students and know them very well. All students are encouraged and supported to achieve their aspirations through personalised study programmes. Students undertake relevant work experience that is well matched to their interests and career aspirations.

We also pride ourselves on our pastoral support and enrichment programme. All students are able to take extra qualifications such as the EPQ; be part of extra-curricular music groups; receive independent and tailored careers advice throughout; receive extensive UCAS and apprenticeship support, and become Mental Health Ambassadors. For students looking to attend either Oxford or Cambridge, we offer a broad support programme throughout their time in the Sixth Form. We also work very closely with Bristol, Nottingham, Liverpool and Birmingham universities who offer support and lower grade requirements for our students.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns prior to the event. We very much look forward to seeing you on the evening.
