GCE A Level & BTEC Results - 2020
Students at Cardinal Griffin Catholic College are celebrating their GCE exam results with over 47% of the grades at A*- B equivalent and 30% of the grades at A*- A equivalent. Special congratulations goes to Connor Doyle who achieved A* in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. He self-taught Biology in one year!
Overall, 73% of the students achieved A*- C equivalent.
The head teacher, Mr Burrowes, offered his congratulations to all students and the college community.
"I am really pleased for the students. This year has, of course, been unprecedented, and we are now entering a stage when the college will be appealing in those subjects which have been hit by the three-year outcome summary. We have the mock exam grades which clearly support the teacher assigned grades in these subjects, and we are very optimistic that these grades will be amended and the process completed quickly, as promised by the government and the exam boards.
I feel strongly that the credibility of these results should not be questioned. The students achieved a very strong set of AS results last year, and therefore they were looking forward to their A2 results. Decisions were taken that were outside of their control.
For the teaching staff, this has been a challenging experience. They worked incredibly hard to prepare the data in March; they were able to fall back on the detailed assessment data that they had compiled over the two years which validated their teacher assigned grades."
