Open Evening 2020
Usually, at this time of the year, we would be eagerly anticipating the arrival of hundreds of parents and pupils and looking forward to welcoming you to our college community. Usually, you would be able to ‘experience’ life as a Cardinal Griffin pupil, with opportunities to participate in subject activities and meet our dedicated team in our building. Usually, we would visit our partner primary schools, meeting the excited and energetic year five and year six pupils. But this is an unusual year. We’ve had to adapt in ways we never imagined, conducting lessons and meetings online, and connecting in virtual reality in order to keep our community safe. Your safety, and the safety of our staff and pupils, is paramount and we have, therefore, decided to ‘go virtual’ for our annual Open Evening Event.
This year, at Cardinal Griffin Catholic College, we will be offering a range of online activities, events and materials as part of our Open Evening 2020 programme. You will have the opportunity to take part in, or experience, the following from the safety and comfort of your own home:
‘Virtual’ Open Evening – Led by our Headteacher, Mr. Burrowes, and featuring the premieres of our brand new college videos, this showcase of our college will go live on the evening of the 1st October 2020.

360 Cardinal Griffin – view the inside of our building, including the classrooms, sports facilities and social spaces without having to leave your sofa! You may not be able to physically visit us this year, but you can ‘see’ what our college is like ‘behind closed doors’.
‘Meet the teacher’ sessions – book an appointment with our Reception team to speak directly to one of our Leadership Team. These meetings can take place over the telephone, or in person. Details to be confirmed.
‘Diary of a Wimpy Griffin Kid’ – our new Rudiments (Year 7) pupils have written accounts of their first couple of weeks at our college. Get the inside scoop on the experiences of a new pupil in our community. These will be published on our website and social media channels.
We understand that choosing a secondary school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. We want to support you as much as we can with this process. If you have any questions about our activities or events, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our friendly reception team on 01543 502215.
